A C2 reply in another thread inspired this late night scribbling…
Maybe this sounds familiar….
Poor Buffalo, willing enough to share their land with the NA Indian only to end up on their dinner plate as food or on their person as clothing. Peaceful animals, not even Buffalo to begin with, but really are Bison. They end up conquered by the new human invader who steals their land right from under their hooves. This first experience with humans got worse when a second group, the white European Settler also found their way to NA. The new group hunted the Bison to near extinction as well as conquered the Indians, slaughtering them in huge numbers at times and taking over the land once owned by the Bison.
After an attempted Bison/Indian genocide, pressure from within the human group saw the targets humanely spared by the Settlers who then set aside large tracts of land for both Bison and Indians. These they called Reservations. Eventually the settlers placed Bison in new areas called National Parks in order to keep them from going extinct.
History will record that the Bison had in the past, occupied the territory of yet another party called the Wolf. There’s some debate on who was in NA first but the Wolf proved to be a thorn in the side of the Bison as well as the Settlers, who as it is their way, tried to eradicate the Wolf population. However a peaceful solution was found and the Wolf pack was reintroduced to the same National Parks now occupied by the Bison. Although the two sides have a mutual distrust for each other and through their interactions some are killed every year, they manage to naturally coexist even today.
Wolf, Bison, NA Indian and European Settler all claiming ownership of the continent. It appears the Settler is currently in control. But as we have seen, the Settler is not afraid to use force if necessary, if only to maintain order and control of the area. The Settler also introduced another human group into the mix called the Afro-American. After enslaving them for awhile, there currently exists an uneasy peace between the Afro descendants & Settlers that also involves more sharing of the land once owned by the Bison.
The Settlers will not be moved easily and are not afraid to venture into areas other than their own to ensure their own safety. They see threats in other areas of the world as a reason to flex their might. They will prove to be a formidable opponent. Bison’s only chance of regaining their territory is for their conquerors or those who wish to conquer to destroy themselves.

If the Indians fought they lost their land. If the Indians didn't fight they lost their land. If Indians had actually owned buffalos (for food) the settlers would have bought them and killed them anyway.
Does the same fate await the people who call themselves Palestinians by virtue of having previously lived in the region known historically as Palestine?
